The righteousness that God requires is an imputed righteousness that is a gift from God by faith alone in Christ alone (Phil. ). And who better to demonstrate this than the father of the Jewish nation—Abraham! He received the righteousness of God when he believed in the Lord for it apart from works, law, and ritual. Imputed righteousness is the righteousness of Jesus credited to the Christians, enabling the Christians to be justified. Double imputation refers to the imputation of believers' sin to Christ and the imputation of Christ's righteousness to believers.
